Job summary

Community Care Cooperative (C3) is seeking a Certified Outpatient Coder to join our billing and credentialing team. You will review ambulatory records for multi-specialty providers to ensure codes are accurately supported by documentation, and you will translate medical record data into payer-friendly language for processing physician charges.

The role reports to the Director of Revenue Integrity and requires knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS, and payer guidelines, with experience in an EMR

Qualifications

• ICD-CM (current edition) CPT/HCPCS and CCI edits.
• Payer requirements, federal and state guidelines for coding and billing.
• Current ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPC official guidelines.
• Medical records content and management.
• EMR experience or education.
• Laws on health information and patient confidentiality.
• MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Flexibility with changing end-user needs.
• Strong interpersonal and professional communication.
• Ownership of work and accuracy.
• Ability to learn new software.
• Problem-solving approach to issues and recurrence prevention.
• Perseverance in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Assigns ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT/HCPCS procedure codes based on documentation.
• Ensures coding is completed in a timely manner to meet billing deadlines.
• Resolves incomplete/missing documentation to expedite billing.
• Communicates with providers to clarify coding questions.
• Performs claim edits and denial reviews related to coding errors.
• Identifies coding/documentation trends posing revenue risks and reports them.
• Keeps up-to-date with coding guidelines, compliance policies, payer policies and industry changes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
