The role emphasizes accuracy (95%+), chart review, and data abstraction across CHRISTUS Health EMR systems, supporting physicians and departments to ensure correct billing.

The coder will collaborate with Admitting, Charging, and HIM teams, escalate denials, and query providers for clarification.

Qualifications

• High school Diploma or equivalent required.
• AHIMA approved Coding Certificate Program preferred.
• Two years of outpatient coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assign codes for diagnoses and procedures according to ICD-10-CM and CPT guidelines.
• Abstract data from source documentation into CHRISTUS Health EMR systems.
• Collaborate with Admitting, Charging, and HIM departments to resolve denials.
• Query providers for missing or unclear documentation.
• Maintain coding accuracy rate of 95% or better.
• Work independently in a remote setting.
• Participate in internal and external audit discussions.
• Follow AHIMA standards of ethical coding.
