Job summary

Datavant, a data collaboration platform for healthcare, seeks experienced outpatient coders for a fully remote role with a flexible schedule. You will review records, assign diagnosis and procedure codes, and ensure accurate coding with a focus on injections/infusions, observation, and same-day surgery.

A HIPAA exam is required annually, and education stipends support ongoing credentials. Ideal candidates hold AHIMA or AAPC certifications and have 2+ years in hospital coding, strong

Qualifications

• AHIMA credentials (RHIA/RHIT/CCS) or AAPC (CPC/CPC-H/COC/CIC/CRC)
• 2+ years hospital coding experience
• Proficient in Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions
• Proficient in Ancillary, ED, Injections/Infusions, E/M leveling
• Strong written and verbal communication, adept at remote work
• Experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software
• Annual HIPAA exam participation required
• Experience with encoding/abstracting software

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign diagnoses/procedures codes
• Sequence codes based on documentation
• Assign discharge dispositions
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital reporting
• Communicate coding issues for follow-up
• Maintain 95% coding accuracy and APC assignment accuracy
• Track continuing education credits for credentials
• Attend Datavant Health sponsored meetings
• Demonstrate initiative in duties
• Communicate with staff on clinical and reimbursement issues
• Operate professionally and efficiently
• Adhere to AHIMA code of ethics
• Be customer-service focused and reliable
• Handle high complexity of work and decisions
• Maintain organizational and teamwork skills
