Job summary

Quorum Health Corporation seeks an Outpatient Acute Care Coder - Emergency to assign ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes for outpatient encounters, ensuring accurate billing and compliance.

The coder will review documentation, select appropriate codes, and apply coding guidelines and CMS rules. Proficiency with 3M encoder and CDI tools is required to verify APCs and documentation adequacy.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of acute care medical coding experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree preferred or coding coursework completed.

Responsibilities

• Review hospital outpatient charts to assign ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes.
• Match coding area to service type (Same Day, Routine, Observation, etc.).
• Apply Official Coding Guidelines and CMS/LMRP rules for accuracy.
• Use 3M encoder to verify APCs and edits, ensuring medical necessity.
• Assign E/M levels and charges for outpatient procedures when applicable.
