Job summary

MedHQ, LLC is seeking an Office-Based Orthopedic Coder to accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for orthopedic surgeries and office services. This role ensures compliance with all regulations while supporting the revenue cycle.

You will work closely with physicians and billing teams, stay current with coding changes, and maintain HIPAA confidentiality in a remote, nationwide capacity. The position offers comprehensive benefits and a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Must have CPC or COSC certification or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of coding experience, preferably orthopedics.
• Knowledge of orthopedic procedures, imaging, and injection coding is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review documentation from office visits, surgeries, imaging interpretations, injections, and other orthopedic services.
• Assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and CPT/HCPCS procedure codes per guidelines and payer rules.
• Verify coding accuracy to support correct claim submission and reduce denials.
• Query providers when documentation is incomplete or inconsistent with coding guidelines.
• Stay current with orthopedic coding updates, payer policy changes, and compliance regulations.
• Collaborate with billing team to resolve denials and coding issues.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA.
• Participate in coding audits and provide feedback to improve documentation and coding accuracy.
• Educate providers and staff on documentation improvement related to orthopedic coding.
