Qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or equivalent certification is required.
• 1+ years of experience as a Coder or in a similar role is required.
• Experience with electronic health record (EHR/EMR) and coding software is preferred.
• Knowledge of orthopedic, physical therapy, or podiatry terminology is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Review physician documentation and surgical reports to assign accurate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.
• Ensure coding complies with federal/state guidelines, payer rules, and company policies.
• Communicate with providers to ensure complete documentation for accurate coding.
• Monitor coding edits, denials, and rejections; assist with appeals as needed.
• Enter and itemize charges into the billing system and support billing team.
