Job summary

Munson Healthcare Careers is seeking an experienced Operating Room Scheduler to manage daily surgical case scheduling from a remote Michigan location. You will coordinate add-on cases, cancellations, and resource allocation, and communicate with physicians, OR staff, and anesthesia teams to ensure timely procedures.

The role requires a high school diploma, preferably an Associate’s degree or 3 years of hospital scheduling experience, and proficiency in MS Word with knowledge of Windows-based

Qualifications

• This position requires a high school diploma and ideally an Associate's degree or 3 years in a hospital or health field with medical terminology.
• Proficiency in MS Word and comfort with Windows-based applications and multiple computer systems.
• Experience in Operating Room scheduling or as a unit clerk is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Handles future scheduling for the OR including requests, faxes and scheduling slips.
• Takes add-on cases for current day and gathers pertinent patient data.
• Communicates add-on cases and cancellations to OR staff and coordinators.
• Uses OR Management scheduling systems to coordinate daily surgical cases.
• Follows block scheduling rules and enters cases accordingly.
• Coordinates order of cases considering resources and surgeon preferences.
• Notifies physicians' offices of scheduled times and confirms numbers.
• Notifies Surgery teams of next-day times and coordinates with Inventory Control for items.
