Qualifications

• Current medical coding certification (CCS, CCA, CPC, RHIT, COC, ACA, or CIC)
• Strong knowledge of CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM coding
• Excellent communication and Excel skills

Responsibilities

• Chart Abstraction: review and abstract E/M levels from documentation
• CPT Coding: assign CPT codes for surgeries, anesthesia, radiology, etc.
• Physician Queries: coordinate queries in Meditech or with hospital reps
• Guidelines & Specificity: apply CMS guidelines and bundling concepts to assign codes
• Payer Rules & Modifiers: attach modifiers per payer guidelines (Medicaid/Medicare)
• Quality & Performance: maintain 95% coding accuracy and productivity
• Compliance Framework: ensure compliance with regulatory agencies
• Collaborative Support: research coding inquiries and assist supervisors
