Job summary

Chapters Health System is seeking a remote Corporate Coding Specialist to perform coding and abstracting across CHS service lines. You will analyze medical records, assign ICD-10-CM/CPT-4 codes, and maintain a high accuracy rate.

Collaboration with medical staff and adherence to coding guidelines are essential. Requirements include a credentialed coding certificate and CCS/CCS-P/CPC/HCS-D credentials, plus 3+ years of acute care or related coding experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years acute care, home health, physician or ancillary coding experience.
• Credentialed coding certificate program with CCS, CCS-P, CPC or HCS-D credentials.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT and related guidelines.
• Familiarity with encoder tech and EMR systems.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret medical records to assign correct ICD-10-CM/CPT-4 codes.
• Abstract necessary data from records to identify diagnoses and comorbidities.
• Code procedures including evaluation and management services.
• Ensure codes reflect documentation; query physicians when needed.
• Maintain coding accuracy target and stay current with guidelines.
• Collaborate with medical staff to clarify documentation.
• Follow AHIMA/AAPC ethical coding standards and maintain credentials.
• Balance workload and meet productivity targets.
