Job summary

VisionWorks is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to enhance patient experience by preparing patients for onsite or remote exams, conducting pre‑exam tests, and explaining each step of the process. You will bridge patients with Optometrists and participate in the initial patient journey.

The role requires at least one year of related experience, an optical/healthcare background preferred, and strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.
• Medical office/business professionalism required.
• Training provided.
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and gather pertinent information for EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye examinations and document results.
• Guide remote patients through remote eye exams and document results.
• Transition patients to a retail associate with recommendations.
• Explain MVC plan benefits and preauthorize insurance.
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books per company guidelines.
• Maintain patient flow for doctor effectiveness.
• Answer clinical questions and triage ocular emergencies.
