Job summary

VisionWorks is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to help ensure a great patient experience by preparing patients for on-site or remote examinations, performing pre-exam tests, and explaining steps in the process. You will liaise between patients and Optometrists and participate in the early stages of the patient journey.

The role requires one year of related experience, a healthcare background is preferred, and a HS diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred
• Medical office professionalism required
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience
• Training provided

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and collect medical history in EMR
• Assist onsite doctor with eye examinations and document results
• Support remote eye exams including pre-testing and video conferencing
• Transition patient to retail associate with doctor recommendations
• Explain MVC plan benefits to patients
• Preauthorize insurance per SOP
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books
• Maintain patient flow for doctor effectiveness
• Answer clinical questions and triage ocular emergencies
• Maintain complete patient records
• Instruct on contact lens Care and handling
• Stock contact lens orders and notify patients when ready
• Maintain clean, safe exam rooms and equipment
• Participate in training and certifications
• Travel to other locations as needed
