Job summary

Merck is seeking an Oncology Sales Representative to grow the Jacksonville, FL territory and nearby regions, traveling for meetings and customer visits. You will educate stakeholders, address needs, and drive sales performance through collaboration with the Oncology Customer Team Leader and field partners.

The role requires 6+ years of sales or 8+ years if grounded in relevant healthcare/scientific experience, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel 10–15% overnight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 6 years of sales experience OR a minimum of high school diploma with at least 8 years of equivalent experience.
• Equivalent experience can be professional sales experience, work experience in the healthcare/scientific field with oncology experience being strongly preferred (including pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical devices) that is not sales related, professional marketing experience, or military experience.
• Valid driver’s license and able to drive a vehicle.
• Travel the amount of time the role requires, including overnight travel 10 - 15%.
• Reside in or within a reasonable distance to the district.

Responsibilities

• Attain or exceed the assigned sales goals for the geography.
• Collaborate with territory counterparts to ensure customers have a seamless oncology experience.
• Engage customers with approved messaging to justify product use.
• Understand cancer treatment pathways and how they affect patients.
• Analyze trends in a multi-channel drug distribution environment.
• Review product purchasing and prescribing patterns (outpatient vs inpatient, hospital/GPO).
• Develop short- and long-term plans with the local team and Oncology Customer Team Leader.
• Ask insightful questions to understand customer priorities and needs.
• Ensure a consistent customer experience across divisions and share learnings with the in-scope team.
