Job summary

Eocene Environmental Group is seeking an On-Call Archaeologist to support cultural resource projects across the Midwest, focusing on Illinois and Indiana. The position offers flexibility to work remotely with Kansas preferred, and requires field surveys, documentation, and travel as needed.

Ideal candidates will have a bachelor's degree in archaeology or related field, strong GIS skills, and the ability to perform physically demanding fieldwork in varied weather conditions across the Midwest

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or related field.
• Proficient in prehistoric and/or historic archaeology in the Midwest region.
• Organized, motivated, thorough, accurate, dependable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Crew Member for the project.
• Conduct Phase I and Phase II cultural resources surveys.
• Document archaeological sites and IOs/IFs.
• Conduct probing or shovel testing.
• Use ArcGIS Field Maps and GPS tech in the field.
• Walk 4–10 miles per day over rough terrain.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Work independently and as part of a team.
