Job summary

Eocene Environmental Group seeks an Archaeologist V to lead cultural resource projects across the Midwest. The role includes serving as Principal Investigator, conducting Phase I surveys, documenting sites, and performing construction monitoring with strict adherence to NHPA/NEPA guidelines.

Based in the Midwest with flexibility for remote work within MI, IL, IN; travel required. Master’s degree preferred and RPA/RA certification desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Archaeology, Anthropology, or closely related field.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to be listed on agency permits as Field Director.
• Proficiency in prehistoric and/or historic archaeology in assigned project regions; ability to describe/differentiate geological and cultural strata and identify archaeological deposits.
• Proficiency with GPS/navigation and field data collection tools.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Principal Investigator for assigned projects and reports.
• Conduct Class III/Phase I cultural resource surveys and document archaeological sites and IOs/IFs.
• Perform construction monitoring and implement stop-work and avoidance protocols as needed.
• Prepare draft deliverables and coordinate submissions to agencies.
• Utilize ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 with sub-meter GPS for data collection.
