Job summary

GFT is seeking an OE Transmission Line Engineer to join our Power Business Group. You will lead transmission line design for a major utility client, acting as Owner’s Engineer and coordinating with clients and project teams.

The role offers a hybrid/remote option for the right candidate, with a focus on safety, standards, and quality while mentoring junior engineers and delivering constructible, code-compliant designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 4+ years of experience in transmission line design.
• In-depth knowledge of NESC, IEEE, NEC requirements and industry best practices.
• High proficiency in PLS-CADD and knowledge of FAD Tools.
• Experience in electrical utility or utility consulting is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee transmission line project designs as Owner’s Engineer.
• Review submittals for constructability and compliance with client standards.
• Coordinate feasibility, routing studies, and EMF calculations.
• Ensure foundations, structures, and equipment installations are properly verified.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers and technicians.
