Job summary

Kinectrics AES, Inc. seeks a Nuclear Fire Protection Engineer to design, license, analyze, and implement fire protection upgrades for nuclear facilities.

You will work with design teams, site personnel, operations, licensing, and emergency preparedness to ensure compliant plant modifications. The role requires 5+ years in a regulated environment, strong knowledge of fire protection systems, and familiar regulatory standards (NRC/NFPA).

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering experience in nuclear, fire protection, power generation, or other highly regulated industries.
• Working knowledge of fire protection engineering principles, fire detection and suppression systems, fire barriers, and fire risk assessment methodologies.
• Familiarity with NRC regulations, NFPA standards, and nuclear industry fire protection requirements.
• Strong analytical, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• SME support for modifications that upgrade or replace fire protection features, including detection and alarm systems, suppression systems, fire barriers, doors, dampers, pumps, water supplies, and passive protection.
• Support compliance with NRC, NFPA, and industry standards/regulations.
• Interpret and apply NRC/NFPA requirements and fire protection guidance.
• Perform or support deterministic and risk-informed fire protection analyses.
• Evaluate fire hazards' impact on safety-related and risk-significant systems and components.
• Develop reports, calculations, engineering evaluations, procedures, specifications, and licensing docs.
• Support fire protection system design, testing, inspection, and maintenance.
• Participate in design reviews, configuration management, and plant modification projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve complex issues.
