Qualifications

• Education: MS in Physics, Health Physics, Radiological Physics, Medical Physics, or related field required. PhD preferred.
• License/Certification: Texas License in Medical Physics specialty required.
• Board Certification by the American Board of Radiology or American Board Science of Nuclear Medicine or American Board of Health Physics or other nationally recognized medical physics board certification.
• Experience/Knowledge/Skills: Four years of related experience preferred; professional society membership may be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provides expertise in both Diagnostic Radiological Physics and Medical Nuclear Physics.
• Carries out the responsibilities of the primary Radiation Safety Officer for X-Ray Registration and RAM licenses.
• Assists in development and evaluation of radiation safety policies and procedures.
• Oversees Equipment Performance Evaluations (EPE) of diagnostic imaging equipment and ensures image quality.
• Performs dosimetry and shielding calculations to meet regulatory requirements.
• Collaborates with health physicists to investigate radiation incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinates Radiation Protocol Committees and Radiation Safety Committees to ensure best practices.
• Supports ACR accreditations and regulatory surveys as needed.
