Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a Medical Physicist to lead CT and MRI protocol development across a large health system in a home-based role. You will ensure regulatory compliance, advise imaging leadership, and collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team to shape advanced imaging programs.

The position emphasizes safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement, with regular reporting to the Director of Radiation Safety. PhD preferred; Texas Medical Physics license required.

Qualifications

• Education: Master of Science in Physics, Health Physics, Radiological Physics, Medical Physics, or related field required.
• PhD preferred.
• License/Certification: Texas License in Medical Physics specialty required.
• Board Certification by the American Board of Radiology or American Board Science of Nuclear Medicine or American Board of Health Physics or other nationally recognized medical physics board certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides expertise in both Diagnostic Radiological Physics and Medical Nuclear Physics.
• Acts as primary Radiation Safety Officer for X-Ray Registration and RAM licenses with statewide regulatory liaison.
• Develops and evaluates radiation safety policies, procedures and practices to ensure safe, compliant radiology.
• Oversees Equipment Performance Evaluations for x-ray and other imaging equipment (CT, MRI, ultrasound).
• Performs dosimetry calculations and shielding assessments to meet regulatory requirements.
• Coordinates shielding and space planning with architects using ALARA principles.
• Participates in quarterly medical physicist reviews and regulatory audits.
• Collaborates with health physicists to investigate and respond to radiation incidents.
• Leadership in Radiation Protocol Committees and Radiation Safety Committees meetings.
