Qualifications

Master of Science in Physics, Health Physics, Radiological Physics, Medical Physics, or related field required. PhD preferred.
Texas License in Medical Physics specialty required.
Board Certification by ABR/ABMS/ABHP or equivalent medical physics board certification.
Clinical experience post graduate training preferred.
Four (4) years of related experience preferred.
Member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine or equivalent society.
Eligible to be the principal Radiation Safety Officer for RAM licenses and X-ray registrations.

Responsibilities

Provides expertise in Diagnostic Radiological Physics and Medical Nuclear Physics.
Serves as primary Radiation Safety Officer for X-Ray Registration and RAM licenses.
Develops radiation safety policies, procedures, and training to minimize exposure.
Oversees Equipment Performance Evaluations for diagnostic imaging equipment.
Performs dosimetry and shielding calculations to meet regulatory requirements.
Coordinates acceptance testing of new imaging equipment and shielding recommendations.
Supports accreditation efforts through ACR as needed.
Ensures compliance with radiation safety standards and budgetary specifications.
