Job summary

Cart.com is seeking a highly organized Merchant of Record Accountant to own end-to-end MoR accounting operations. You will ensure payment processing integrity, tax compliance, and accurate financial reporting across brands.

Ideal candidates have 3–7 years in payments operations or related finance roles, with strong Excel and SQL skills. This role supports rapid growth with robust controls and scalable processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• Three to seven years of experience in payments operations, merchant services, accounting, finance, or related field.
• Strong understanding of payment processing, settlements, merchant accounts, and financial controls.
• Hands-on experience preparing reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close support.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience analyzing large datasets.
• Working knowledge of SQL and reporting or analytics tools.

Responsibilities

• Own the accounting and operational oversight of Merchant of Record activities across supported brands.
• Review, validate, and approve high-value transactions and settlements with internal controls.
• Monitor and resolve urgent payment exceptions, including settlement failures and chargebacks.
• Maintain rigorous transaction-level review processes to minimize errors and leakage.
• Lead reconciliations between payment platforms, banking activity, and the general ledger.
