Job summary

Canyon State Electric seeks an experienced Mission Critical Estimator to price data center and critical facility work. This role supports bids end-to-end, including conceptual budgets and design-assist pricing, with opportunities across industrial, cold storage, clean room, healthcare, and aviation projects.

The position offers a fully remote option from anywhere in the U.S. or a hybrid setup from the Phoenix office, with periodic travel for bid strategy sessions and site turnovers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years electrical estimating experience with 2+ years in mission-critical or data center work
• Proven track record owning large, complex estimates from concept through award
• Experience across multiple commercial/industrial sectors (industrial, cold storage, clean room, healthcare, aviation) a plus
• Strong knowledge of power distribution, standby and emergency power, UPS topologies, redundancy concepts (N+1, 2N), NEC/NFPA codes
• Proficiency with estimating software: ConEst, Accubid, McCormick; ConEst preferred
• Advanced Bluebeam for digital takeoff; comfortable with BIM-derived information
• MS Office (Excel) and cloud tools (Teams, SharePoint)
• Ability to work independently and meet bid dates across time zones
• Attention to detail; identify scope gaps and discrepancies between drawings, specs, addenda
• Ability to manage multiple pursuits with competing bid dates
• Willingness to travel to Phoenix and project sites
• Bachelor's degree in related field is a plus; CPE credential is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead detailed electrical estimates for mission-critical projects ending in bid award
• Estimate other large projects between pursuits (industrial, cold storage, clean room, healthcare, aviation)
• Perform digital takeoff and pricing for LV/MV distribution, switchgear, generators, UPS, busway, PDU/RPP, grounding, lighting, fire alarm
• Develop labor units, productivity factors and crew assumptions for high-density builds
• Track long-lead equipment pricing and quotes; flag escalation risks
• Build conceptual/ROM estimates for various design approaches and price VE adds
• Write scope letters, inclusions/exclusions, clarifications, and assumptions
• Own bid day: coordinate vendor pricing and present bid strategy/margin
• Collaborate with field ops, PM, and prefab on constructability and change pricing
• Support project handoff with budget breakdowns and walkthroughs
• Maintain historical cost data and estimating assemblies for mission-critical scopes
• Contribute to process improvements and mentor junior estimators
• Represent CSE in client/vendor interactions and virtual bid reviews
