Job summary

Saulsbury Industries in Texas is seeking a cost estimator to own bid cost estimating for data center projects. You will develop take-offs, apply labor rates, identify risks and opportunities, and help craft winning strategies.

The role requires 1+ years of mechanical estimating for EPC/data centers or 3–5 years in oil & gas with data centers, and familiarity with MC2 or similar estimating software. Occasional travel and safety compliance are expected.

Qualifications

• 1+ years’ experience with mechanical estimating for EPC, data centers, or 3–5 years in Oil & Gas with data centers.
• Working knowledge of estimating software; MC2 a plus.
• Competitive bid experience in petrochemical, power, gas processing, refining and other heavy industrial facilities.
• Construction field experience highly preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of estimating strategies and techniques.
• Thorough understanding of construction industry practices, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities.
• Knowledge of estimating Best Practices.
• Occasional travel required.
• Follow safety regulations on jobsite visits with proper attire and PPE.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates in accordance with scope, data center mechanical blueprints, specifications, and documentation to prepare quantity take-offs for foundations, structural steel, pipe, and process equipment.
• Apply work hour unit rates for each item to generate total direct work hours.
• Understand construction equipment requirements and temporary facilities needs.
• Assist in soliciting quotes from material suppliers, subcontractors, and manufacturers.
• Distribute and maintain bid documents; coordinate with departments during the bid process.
• Identify special client or project requirements for weather protection, cranes, hoists, HES, and services.
• Analyze project location and productivity; review labor costs and licensing requirements.
• Ensure bid forms are completed and properly executed; lead bid review meetings with Business Unit Management and estimating groups.
