Job summary

Daksta is seeking an Estimator II for Mission Critical and Data Centre projects. This role supports growth with a focus on accurate cost estimates, collaboration with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders across multiple sites including Minneapolis, MN, Atlanta, GA, Chicago, IL and Austin, TX.

Travel is minimal (about every two weeks). Ideal candidates have 3–6 years in estimating for mission-critical/data center projects, with a Bachelor's in Construction Management or Engineering

Qualifications

  • 3-6 years of estimating experience focused on mission-critical and data center projects.
  • Proven ability to prepare accurate, comprehensive cost estimates for complex projects.
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for mission-critical and data center projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to gather information for estimates.
  • Analyze project specs, drawings, and docs to determine scope and requirements.
  • Identify risks and opportunities within estimates and provide mitigation recommendations.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, materials, and construction methods for mission-critical/datacenter projects.
  • Support preconstruction in budgeting, scheduling, and value-engineering.
  • Travel approximately every two weeks to the data center site.

This role is pivotal to supporting the growth and success of our organization, which experienced substantial expansion in the mission-critical sector, contributing to 50% of our revenue last year. With plans to grow by an additional 50% next year, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and forward-thinking team. This position is available in Atlanta, GA, Minneapolis, MN, Chicago, IL, and Austin, TX, with minimal travel requirements (once every two weeks to the data center site). Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for mission-critical and data center projects, ensuring accuracy and project alignment.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to gather necessary information for comprehensive estimates.
  • Analyze project specifications, drawings, and additional documentation to determine the project scope and requirements.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities within project estimates, providing recommendations to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and construction methods specific to mission-critical and data center projects.
  • Support the preconstruction team in developing budgets, schedules, and value-engineering options.
  • Participate in project meetings, offering input on cost-related matters.
Qualifications
  • 3-6 years of experience in estimating, with an emphasis on mission-critical and data center projects.
  • Experience in semiconductor, power, or EV battery plant projects is also acceptable.
  • Proven ability to prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for complex projects.
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in relevant estimating software and tools.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Calm, composed, and resourceful personality, with a drive to deliver quality results under tight deadlines.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Review project documentation and collaborate with stakeholders to collect requirements for estimates.
  • Develop, refine, and ensure accurate cost estimates aligned with project objectives.
  • Conduct market research on material costs, labor rates, and industry-specific trends.
  • Actively participate in team discussions regarding project progress, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Support preconstruction teams in preparing budgets, scheduling, and identifying value-engineering ideas.
  • Travel as needed—approximately once every two weeks—to the data center site.
