Job summary

Oak Street Health is seeking a Medical Scribe – Float to support primary care providers with clinical documentation. The role involves observing visits, documenting encounters in real-time, and assisting with coding and after-visit summaries in a fast-paced clinic setting.

The position offers a full-time schedule with a strong emphasis on accuracy, HIPAA compliance, and collaboration with the care team across clinics in the United States.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology and common medications from a pre-medical degree or clinical experience.
• Prior clinical experience, including shadowing and/or volunteering.
• Prior scribe or transcription experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Documenting patient encounters in real time with structured notes (history, assessment, plan, exam).
• Joining the provider in the exam room to observe visits.
• Assigning CPT and ICD-10 codes.
• Preparing After Visit Summaries.
• Consulting with provider to ensure accurate documentation.
• Support for daily huddles and clinical documentation reviews.
• Administrative support for the care team including placing orders and referrals.
