Job summary

American Red Cross is seeking a TCS Medical Director to lead medical office engagement for Therapeutic Apheresis and Cellular Therapies. The role includes clinical oversight, regulatory alignment, and collaboration with leadership to grow programs and partnerships.

Candidates should have MD/DO with board certification in transfusion medicine, 5+ years in cell therapy, and experience with FACT/AABB standards; this is a national, remote role with some travel.

Qualifications

• MD/DO with Board Certification in Transfusion Medicine or Hematology/Oncology.
• 5+ years’ experience in cell therapy and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (negotiable).
• Proven experience with FACT accreditation processes and AABB standards.
• Knowledge of FDA regulations governing human cells, tissues, and cellular products (HCT/Ps).
• Demonstrated leadership in program development and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to lead strategic growth and cross-disciplinary teams.
• Experience with investigator-initiated clinical trials is a plus, not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical strategy and oversight for regulated cellular therapies (HPCs, CAR-T, Leukopaks).
• Partner with executive leadership to expand collection footprints and production processes.
• Support expansion through outreach, partnerships, and program development.
• Serve as medical liaison for biotech partners on donor eligibility, product specs, and trials.
