Job summary

American Red Cross is seeking a Medical Director to lead Therapeutic Apheresis and Cellular Therapies (TCS) with strategic medical oversight and regional leadership. The role is 100% remote nationwide and designed to collaborate with teams across the Eastern Time Zone, with periodic onsite travel as needed.

You will guide program development, ensure regulatory compliance, and elevate clinical practice in transfusion medicine and cellular therapeutics.

Qualifications

• MD/DO with Board Certification in Transfusion Medicine or Hematology/Oncology.
• 5+ years’ experience in Cell Therapy and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation preferred.
• Familiarity with FACT accreditation and FDA HCT/P regulations.

Responsibilities

• Direct medical strategy and operations for regulated cellular therapies.
• Lead medical office engagement and serve as liaison with biotech partners.
• Oversee donor eligibility, product specs, and clinical trial alignment.
• Provide medical oversight as CLIA director for regional labs as applicable.
• Deliver medical education to internal and external audiences.
