Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a Medical Director to lead Therapeutic and Cellular Solutions (TCS) and provide expert clinical oversight in cellular therapies, transfusion medicine, and regulatory compliance. This remote leadership role collaborates with executive leadership to expand programs and ensure the highest clinical standards.

The role requires MD/DO with Board Certification in transfusion medicine, strong experience in cell therapy, and proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams

Qualifications

• MD/DO with Board Certification in Transfusion Medicine or Hematology/Oncology.
• Proven leadership in program development and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with FACT accreditation and AABB standards preferred.
• Knowledge of FDA regulations for HCT/Ps.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and strategic growth.

Responsibilities

• Direct medical strategy and operations for regulated cellular therapies (HPCs, CAR-T, Leukopaks).
• Lead medical office engagement for TCS programs and act as primary liaison for biotech partners.
• Collaborate with leadership to expand collection footprints and optimize production of cellular products.
• Provide medical oversight for transfer of protocols from research to clinical production.
• Oversee donor eligibility, product specifications, and clinical trial alignment.
