Job summary

CenterWell Medical Group, a part of Humana Inc., is seeking a Medical Director to lead APP collaboration, medical governance, and regulatory oversight across our virtual care organization. The role maintains a limited virtual patient presence and reports to the Regional Medical Director.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, or related primary care specialty.
• Ten or more medical licenses with ability to obtain additional licenses.
• At least 5 years of clinical practice.
• Experience as collaborating physician for virtual Advanced Practice Providers.
• Knowledge of telehealth, virtual care delivery, and value-based care models.
• Strong understanding of physician collaboration, APP practice regulations, and healthcare compliance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary physician collaborator and clinical resource for NPs and PAs within CenterWell Medical Group.
• Provide consultation for complex cases, escalations, and scope-of-practice questions.
• Establish and maintain standardized physician collaboration models across multiple states.
• Promote evidence-based medicine and clinical practice consistency in the virtual care org.
• Support APP onboarding, education, and clinician development related to physician collaboration requirements.
• Lead the Variable Staffing Pool (VSP) physician model and ensure adequate coverage.
• Fulfill Medical Director responsibilities for designated legal entities and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintain licensure across jurisdictions and advise on regulatory considerations for market expansion.
• Contribute to clinical governance, quality initiatives, and patient safety programs.
• Conduct virtual patient visits to support delivery workflows and inform program design.
