Job summary

CenterWell Medical Group, part of Humana, is seeking a Medical Director to lead APP collaboration, medical governance, and regulatory oversight across our virtual care organization.

This fully remote role reports to the Regional Medical Director and maintains a limited virtual practice to stay connected to patient care. The position emphasizes multi-state supervision, compliance, and clinical leadership.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, or related primary care.
• 10 unrestricted medical licenses and the ability to obtain more.
• 5 years of clinical practice experience.
• Within the last two years, experience as a collaborating physician for virtual Advanced Practice Providers.
• Knowledge of telehealth, virtual care delivery, and value-based care models.
• Strong understanding of physician collaboration, APP practice regulations, and healthcare compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Be the primary physician collaborator and clinical resource for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants within CenterWell Medical Group.
• Provide consultation and guidance for complex clinical cases, escalations, and scope-of-practice questions.
• Establish standardized physician collaboration models across multiple states.
• Promote evidence-based medicine and clinical practice consistency across the virtual care organization.
• Support APP onboarding, education, and clinician development related to physician collaboration requirements.
• Lead the VSP physician model and ensure adequate collaboration coverage.
• Oversee medical directorship for designated CenterWell Medical Group entities and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Manage multi-state licensure and regulatory strategy for clinical governance.
• Contribute to clinical governance, quality, and patient safety initiatives.
• Conduct virtual patient visits and inform program design and provider support models.
