Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks a Medical Director of Clinical Informatics to lead CDS content authoring for EHR-integrated applications. You will translate narrative clinical guidelines into structured logic, collaborate with terminologists, reviewers, and engineers, and oversee QA and content policies while guiding AI-enabled development.

You will help shape the content development pipeline, drive cross-functional clinical product collaboration, and mentor content authors.

Qualifications

• MD/DO/MBBS or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience in Clinical Informatics
• 2+ years of clinical practice
• 2+ years of CDS experience
• Experience collaborating with SMEs, product and software architects
• Experience with evidence-based medicine framework
• Experience translating guidelines into structured representations
• Experience with FHIR
• Experience with AI/Large Language Models in informatics

Responsibilities

• Author, maintain, and QA CDS content for EHR-embedded applications
• Translate guidelines from narrative form into structured logic
• Collaborate with reviewers to ensure clinical accuracy
• Work with terminologists to encode concepts using standard terminologies
• Partner with engineers to implement logical content and data structures
• Serve as content/process steward and develop curation policies
• Provide training for content authors on tools and processes
• Collaborate in cross-functional clinical product design to improve adoption and UX
• Train teams in content authoring techniques and best practices
• Design and test new methods for content development
• Incorporate AI safeguards into content development pipeline
