Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks a Medical Director of Clinical Informatics to lead CDS content authoring for EHR-embedded applications. Translate guidelines into structured logic, ensure terminology alignment, and collaborate with clinicians and engineers to implement content within clinical workflows.

Qualifications

• Medical Graduate (MD/DO or MBBS)
• 5+ years of experience in Clinical Informatics
• 2+ years of clinical practice experience
• 2+ years of experience related to CDS
• Experience collaborating with Clinical subject matter experts, product and software architects
• Experience with evidence-based medicine framework
• Significant experience translating clinical guidelines into structured logical representation
• Experience with FHIR
• Experience with leveraging AI, Large Language Models, generative AI in informatics process
• Deep understanding and use of clinical terminology

Responsibilities

• Author, maintain, and support QA of CDS content
• Translate clinical guidelines from a narrative format into a structured logical representation
• Break down clinical guidelines to semantically precise clinical concepts
• Collaborate with peer reviewers to ensure content is accurate and evidence-based
• Collaborate with clinical terminologists to identify and represent clinical concepts
• Partner with technical informaticists for implementation of structured content
• Act as content and process steward for content development
• Provide training and support for content authoring colleagues
• Participate in cross-functional collaboration between clinical content, clinical product and software development teams to optimize utilization of clinical content in workflows
• Provide clinical informatics and SME expertise to improve user adoption and experience
• Train new teams of content authors in tools and best practices
• Design, test and implement new methods for content development
• Collaborate on AI capabilities incorporation with safeguards
• Provide thought leadership on best practices
