Job summary

American Red Cross is seeking an experienced TCS Medical Officer to lead the medical office engagement for Therapeutic Apheresis and Cellular Therapeutics programs, providing expert clinical oversight and liaising with internal teams and external partners.

The role includes directing medical strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance with FACT and FDA standards, and supporting program development for HPCs, CAR-T, and related cellular products.

Qualifications

• MD/DO with Board Certification in Transfusion Medicine or Hematology/Oncology.
• Preference for a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Cell Therapy and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, but negotiable.
• Proven experience with FACT accreditation processes and AABB Standards for cellular therapy.
• Knowledge of FDA regulations governing human cells, tissues, and cellular and tissue-based products (HCT/Ps).
• Demonstrate leadership in program development with knowledge of cellular therapy regulations, transplant protocols, and FACT accreditation.
• Experience leading investigator-initiated clinical trials or translational research in cellular immunotherapy is of interest but not required.
• Candidates can live anywhere in the US. This is a 100% remote role with periodic onsite travel in support of business needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead medical office engagement for regulated cellular therapies (HPCs, CAR-T, Leukopaks).
• Direct medical strategy and operations for regulatory cellular therapies; collaborate with executive leadership.
• Provide medical oversight for donor eligibility, product specifications, and clinical trial alignment.
• Oversee regional blood center operations, donor management, and product investigations; CLIA director duties as applicable.
