Job summary

American Red Cross seeks an experienced Medical Director for Therapeutic and Cellular Solutions (TCS) to guide clinical strategy, regulatory compliance, and program growth in cellular therapies. The role involves collaboration with leadership, biotech partners, and internal teams to advance donor-derived products and trial alignment.

Qualifications

• MD/DO with Board Certification in Transfusion Medicine or Hematology/Oncology.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Cell Therapy and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, negotiable.
• Familiarity with FACT accreditation and AABB Standards for cellular therapy.
• Knowledge of FDA regulations governing human cells, tissues and cellular products.

Responsibilities

• Direct medical strategy and operations for regulated cellular therapies (HPCs, CAR-T, Leukopaks).
• Partner with leadership to expand collection footprints and production materials.
• Lead medical liaison activities with biotech partners and committees.
• Provide medical oversight for transfer of protocols from research to production.
