Job summary

American Red Cross is seeking a Medical Director for Therapeutic and Cellular Solutions (TCS) to lead medical oversight of regulated cellular therapies, including policy development for cell collection and infusion. The role partners with executives to grow services, ensures regulatory compliance, and elevates knowledge in transfusion medicine and cellular therapeutics.

The position offers remote work across the US with periodic onsite engagement, and travel as needed to support program growth

Qualifications

• MD/DO with Board Certification in Transfusion Medicine or Hematology/Oncology.
• Preference for 5+ years in Cell Therapy and HSCT (negotiable).
• Experience with FACT accreditation and AABB Standards for cellular therapy.
• Knowledge of FDA regulations governing HCT/Ps.
• Demonstrate leadership in program development with regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Direct medical strategy and operations for regulated cellular therapies (HPCs, CAR-T, Leukopaks).
• Partner with executive leadership to expand collection footprints and optimize production.
• Contribute to outreach, partnerships, new program development, and support of sales teams as required.
• Serve as medical liaison for biotech partners on donor eligibility, product specs, and clinical trial alignment.
• Provide medical oversight for donor management, product investigations, and regulatory compliance.
