Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Medical Coder to join our team. This full-time remote role offers telecommuting from anywhere in the United States, with 40 hours per week and a focus on accurate outpatient coding.

You will assign ICD-10 and CPT codes, maintain documentation standards, and stay current with coding updates across nephrology-related services. AHIMA/AAPC credentialing is required, along with 2+ years of coding experience and proficiency with EMR systems and Excel.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC maintained annually.
• 2+ years of ICD-10 and CPT coding experience.
• 2+ years of multi-specialty surgical coding.
• Proficient in Windows and Excel; experienced with EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Assigns accurate diagnostic and procedure codes according to documentation and guidelines.
• Assigns CPT and ICD-10 codes to outpatient hospital services.
• Monitors work queues to ensure timely coding and billing.
• Generates coding queries for clarification when needed.
• Keeps up to date with coding changes and updates.
• Ability to manage heavy workload and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
