Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Medical Coder to provide coding and auditing services to providers. You will apply diagnostic and procedural codes to patient records for data retrieval, analysis and claims processing. This full-time position (40 hours/week) offers telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S.

You will assign CPT and ICD-10 codes for nephrology services, monitor queues, and generate coding queries. Requires AHIMA/AAPC credentialing and 2+ years of ICD-10/CPT coding experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC maintained annually.
• Minimum 2 years' experience with ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• Experience with multi-specialty surgical coding.
• Proficiency with Windows and MS Excel; EMR systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Assign diagnostic and procedure codes per documentation and guidelines.
• Code CPT and ICD-10 for nephrology services.
• Monitor work queues to ensure timely chart charging and coding.
• Generate coding queries for documentation clarification.
• Stay updated on coding changes and conventions.
