UnitedHealth Group's Optum unit is hiring a Medical Coder for remote nationwide work. The role performs concurrent review of FFS coding rules within Epic to ensure CPT and E/M codes are billed accurately. Schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 AM–5 PM, with remote access across the U.S.

Required: high school diploma, AAPC/AHIMA certification, 1+ year coding experience, ICD-10-CM/CPT knowledge, and strong medical terminology. Epic experience preferred. Salary: $20–$36 per hour.

Competenze

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, RHIT, RHIA, etc.) required.
• 1+ year of medical coding experience.
• Strong ICD-10-CM, CPT, modifiers & HCPCS knowledge.
• Strong medical terminology and anatomy knowledge.
• Must meet deadlines and productivity standards.

Mansioni

• Assign appropriate medical codes from documentation.
• Interpret clinical documentation with anatomy/physiology.
• Generate queries for unclear documentation.
• Follow up with providers to obtain timely responses.
• Use coding software or references to identify codes.
• Apply post-query responses to final determinations.
• Adhere to guidelines to record code determinations.
• Manage multiple tasks to maintain productivity and turnaround times.
• Resolve coding edits/denials related to codes.
• Educate and mentor others to improve coding quality.
• Explain impact of coding on revenue cycle.
• Other duties as assigned.
