Job summary

Powers Health seeks a Coder I – Emergency Department to accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes for outpatient encounters, following Official Coding Guidelines, hospital policies and regulatory requirements. This role supports proper reimbursement, compliance, quality reporting and data integrity across Powers Health hospitals.

Ideal candidates hold RHIT/RHIA or CCS credentials (or HIT/HIM degree) and have outpatient coding experience; strong anatomy, physiology and medical terminology

Qualifications

• Minimum education in HIT/HIM; RHIT/RHIA/CCS credentials preferred.
• Outpatient coding experience may be considered; comprehensive knowledge required.
• Strong anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology background.
• Detail-oriented with ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for outpatient encounters.
• Ensure coding aligns with Official Coding Guidelines and hospital policies.
