Job summary

AAPC is seeking a Remote HIM Coder with CCS for a part-time role. You will code and abstract hospital records using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 guidelines, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Responsibilities include reviewing medical records, applying federal and state regulations, and contributing to performance improvement within the department. A minimum of two years inpatient coding experience and AHIMA CCS certification (post-10/01/2025) are required or pursued.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years inpatient records coding experience or equivalent.
• High School Diploma or GED required; knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology/Medical terminology is essential.
• AHIMA Certification: CCS required for all employees hired after 10/1/2025.
• Experience with an electronic health record system preferred.
• Ability to perform functions in a Microsoft Windows environment with high accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Accurately review and code medical records using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 guidelines.
• Utilize federal and state regulations to verify and abstract required data into the computer system.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and maintain department level competencies.
