Job summary

Virtua Health in the United States is seeking a skilled Medical Coder to abstract clinical information and assign CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes from medical records to support physicians' professional fees for outpatient E/M services and procedures.

Remote work is available; onsite testing is required in Marlton, NJ. Candidates should have CPC certification and 2+ years coding experience, plus familiarity with EHR systems and medical terminology.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years records coding experience and/or equivalent education.
• Ability to perform functions in a Microsoft Windows environment.
• Previous experience with an electronic legal health record system preferred.
• Knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology/ Medical terminology required.
• Required Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPC (Certified Professional Coder) Certified required.

Responsibilities

• Abstract billing for outpatient evaluation and management codes and HCPCS codes from provider documentation.
• Assign CPT-4 and ICD-10-CM codes and modifiers.
• Research coding/billing issues and advise on the most appropriate method of coding/billing.
• Analyze the medical record to determine coding appropriateness and potential patterns of abuse.
