Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a remote medical coder to abstract clinical information and assign CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes from medical records, supporting outpatient billing for E/M services and HCPCS items. The role requires CPC certification and at least two years of coding experience or equivalent education.

Qualifications

• Two years records coding experience and/or equivalent education.
• Proficiency with CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding.
• Knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology/Medical terminology.
• Experience with Microsoft Windows environment.
• CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification required.
• Electronic health record systems experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Abstract clinical information and assign CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes from medical records to support physicians’ professional fees.
• Abstract billing for outpatient evaluation and management codes and HCPCS codes from provider documentation.
• Research coding/billing issues and suggest appropriate coding methods.
• Analyze medical records to determine coding accuracy and patterns of potential abuse.
