Qualifications

• Minimum of two years records coding experience and/or equivalent education.
• Must be able to operate in a Microsoft Windows environment.
• Prior experience with an electronic health record system preferred.
• Knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology / Medical terminology required.
• CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Abstract billing for outpatient evaluation and management codes and CPT-4, ICD-10-CM codes.
• Assign CPT-4, ICD-10-CM codes and modifiers from provider documentation.
• Research coding/billing issues for physicians and recommend appropriate methods.
• Analyze medical records to determine coding accuracy and identify potential issues.
