Job summary

Facility Optimization Solutions (FOS), a subsidiary of Cannon Design, is seeking a Mechanical Assessor to lead mechanical and plumbing assessments across healthcare, education, sports, public and commercial sectors. You will identify deficiencies, document systems, and provide budgetary cost estimates while guiding junior assessors and coordinating with facility teams.

You will travel up to 40% for out-of-town assignments and work in a hybrid model with the option to work from home or office.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of related experience required.
• Experience with mechanical systems to perform evaluation of HVAC, plumbing, and other building equipment.
• Direct experience in conducting facility condition assessments for mechanical and plumbing equipment strongly preferred.
• Experience assessing healthcare and educational institutions strongly preferred.
• Prior cost estimating experience is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD is required.
• Must have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrated experience with Adobe Suite, Bluebeam, tablets, and mobile device tools preferred.
• Must be willing to travel up to 40% for out-of-town assignments.
• Must be physically able to walk the stated areas each day, climb fixed and sometimes extension ladders, walk on roof surfaces up to a 3/12 slope.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site facility condition assessments as part of a multidisciplinary team on existing buildings, evaluating mechanical and plumbing building systems.
• Identify deficiencies and provide written narratives with recommendations and cost estimates to remediate.
• Maintain daily walk rate from 100,000 to 225,000 square feet per day.
• Determine condition, remaining useful life, required costs, and remedial measures.
• Describe deficiencies in technical detail for future project planning and cost estimating.
• Interview operations staff to gather building history and work orders.
• Prepare project progress documentation for review by the project manager.
• Review peers’ work and participate in post-project reviews.
