Job summary

CannonDesign's Facility Optimization Solutions (FOS) seeks a Mechanical Assessor to lead mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection assessments for healthcare, education, sports, public, and commercial assets. The role is remote in the U.S.

with travel up to 40% and requires coordinating with clients and project teams to document conditions and provide budgetary recommendations. You'll supervise junior assessors, prepare written system descriptions, and develop cost estimates for corrective

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of related experience with direct mechanical & plumbing facility assessments.
• Experience evaluating HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems.
• Healthcare and educational facility experience preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 40% for out-of-town assignments.
• Strong written & verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site facility condition assessments as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Evaluate HVAC, ductwork, piping, cooling towers, chillers, and boilers.
• Document system observations and deficiencies with budgetary repair estimates.
• Lead and support junior assessors to ensure quality across the mechanical discipline.
• Interview building operations staff to collect history and current issues.
• Prepare project progress documentation for the project manager.
