Job summary

rePurpose Global is seeking a Materials & Technical Compliance Engineer to own core material analysis, breaking products into materials, layers, and coatings, and translating data into precise classifications for multiple jurisdictions.

You will shape the rules engine behind our compliance platform, model material switches, and support customers with design-for-circularity options while collaborating with product and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in materials/engineering required.
• Ability to analyze material composition and weight, including resins, laminates, coatings.
• Attention to detail and high-stakes analytical quality-control work.
• Interest in policy and regulatory text to ground technical decisions.
• Clear communication translating analysis into requirements for product, engineering, and customers.

Responsibilities

• Analyze material composition & BOM structures; determine materials, layers, coatings, and weights.
• Make jurisdiction-specific classifications based on regulatory definitions.
• Model material recommendations, including switches and lower-fee alternatives.
• Own the classification logic and update routing rules across jurisdictions.
• Run multi-pass QC to ensure schema conformance and accurate client deliverables.
• Resolve the toughest composition, exemption, and mapping questions.
• Shape the automated material recommendations and regulatory routing in the platform.
• Bridge material science with platform logic to support product & engineering.
• Support bespoke material deep-dives and analyses for clients.
