Job summary

rePurpose Global seeks a Materials & Technical Compliance Engineer to break down products into materials, assess composition, and map attributes to regulatory classifications across jurisdictions. You will model material switches and cost/eco-modulation options, supporting clients with defensible reports and design-for-circularity insights.

The role is remote for US-based candidates, with hybrid options near New York City.

Qualifications

A materials or engineering foundation with degree or hands-on background.
Ability to analyze product materials, resins, coatings, and multi-layer assemblies.
Strong analytical rigor and precision in high-stakes analysis.
Interest in policy and regulatory research and ability to ground decisions in text.
Clear technical communication to cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Analyze material composition and BOM structures to determine materials and weights.
Translate material composition into correct reporting classifications per jurisdiction.
Model material recommendations, including switches and cost/eco-modulation tradeoffs.
Own and update the classification logic across jurisdictions as regulations evolve.
Perform multi-pass QC and sign off on client deliverables.
Address escalated composition and mapping questions from clients.
Contribute to the rules engine for automated material suggestions.
Bridge materials science with product engineering to support platform rules.
