Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking an experienced Make Ready Designer to support overhead make-ready and joint-use design for major electric and telecommunications utilities. This remote role focuses on translating field data into construction-ready designs, applying NESC requirements, and resolving design conflicts across teams.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in make-ready engineering or electric power distribution design, strong CAD/MicroStation skills, and the ability to work Eastern Time hours

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree or higher in engineering, drafting, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in make-ready engineering, joint-use design, or electric power distribution design (3+ years preferred).
• Experience with utility pole design, NESC application, clearance analysis, and pole loading concepts.

Responsibilities

• Complete make-ready and overhead utility pole design work orders.
• Review field data, pole information, attachment details, and existing utility conditions.
• Evaluate joint-use attachments, NESC clearances, and pole loading.
• Develop construction-ready make-ready designs (pole replacements, transfers, attachments, guying).
• Apply NESC requirements and client design criteria.
• Perform end-to-end make-ready and joint-use design and support related overhead distribution design.
• Conduct permitting and easement research.
