Job summary

CTG is seeking a Storage Workstream – Mainframe Storage Systems Programmer for our client, focusing on IBM Z storage management, DFSMSrmm, and migration activities.

The role involves configuring and installing IBM storage products, developing JCL/REXX/Assembler, and guiding storage migrations with cross-team collaboration. This remote, ongoing contract offers exposure to z/OS storage ecosystems and strong communication practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in CS/IT/Engineering or equivalent
• 5+ years in a mainframe operations environment
• Experience with DFSMSrmm and CA 1 or equivalent tools
• Experience with IBM Z storage administration and mainframe storage management
• Experience writing and maintaining JCL, REXX, and Assembler
• Knowledge of SMP/E and related z/OS software
• Ability to train and guide storage admins and operations teams
• Strong English communication skills

Responsibilities

• Support the Storage Workstream for IBM Z mainframe storage management, tape management, and migrations
• Provide configuration, installation, and operational support for IBM storage products
• Assist with CA-1 to DFSMSrmm migration activities, including JCL and runtime parameters
• Assist with migration activities for IBM OMEGAMON for Storage and DFSMShsm components
• Support CA FAVER to ACM migration activities, including JCL development
• Support GRS migration activities, including PARMLIB updates
• Assist with AAM migration activities and training
• Assess and communicate operational impact of storage migrations to teams
• Develop and maintain JCL, REXX, and Assembler programs
• Use TSO/ISPF for mainframe admin tasks
• Collaborate with systems programmers and storage teams during migrations
• Provide training and knowledge transfer on IBM Z storage technologies
• Troubleshoot storage issues to maintain stability
