Job summary

Optomi, in partnership with a global leader in technology services, seeks a Mainframe Storage SME to support enterprise storage environments, troubleshoot complex issues, maintain security and compliance, and identify modernization opportunities. Deep hands-on experience with DASD, tape, z/OS, DFSMS, and mainframe storage tools is required.

The role involves administering, monitoring, and maintaining storage solutions, troubleshooting space abends, and analyzing SMF and BVIR reports.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Mainframe Storage Administration.
• Hands-on experience with DASD and tape storage solutions.
• Strong knowledge of z/OS and z/OS fundamentals.
• Experience with TSO, ISPF, JCL, VSAM, ISMF, JES2, catalogs, and datasets.
• Experience with DFSMS family and related tools.
• Experience with CA/FDR/OMEGAMON XE products.
• Experience with space abends, SMF and related reports.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred

The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience with DASD, tape, z/OS, DFSMS, and mainframe storage management tools.

Responsibilities:

• Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise mainframe storage environments, including DASD and tape.
• Manage system data and provide day-to-day storage support while maintaining security and compliance.
• Troubleshoot storage issues, including space abends, and analyze SMF, DCOLLECT, and BVIR reports.
• Support storage management, migration, backup, recovery, and retention activities.
• Identify potential issues and recommend solutions to improve reliability, performance, and efficiency.
• Evaluate modernization opportunities and collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders on solutions.

• 10+ years of experience in Mainframe Storage Administration.
• Hands-on experience with DASD and tape storage solutions.
• Strong knowledge of z/OS and z/OS (MVS) fundamentals.
• Experience with TSO, ISPF, JCL, VSAM, ISMF, JES2, catalogs, and datasets.
• Strong experience with DFSMS, DFSMSHSM, DFSMSDSS, DFSMSDFP, and DFSMSRMM.
• Experience with CA products, FDR products, and OMEGAMON XE.
• Experience with space abends, SMF, DCOLLECT, and BVIR reports.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.
• Experience with storage box data migration and storage replication preferred.
• Ability to support customer hours across the U.S., Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions.
