Job summary

Ensono is seeking a Mainframe Engineer to design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications with COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and VSAM. The role is remote across the United States, requiring 3–5 years of specialized experience and US citizenship.

You will guide junior team members, handle incidents and changes, and contribute to performance tuning and documentation. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in mainframe application development, support and maintenance.
• Proficiency in mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM with strong SDLC understanding and experience with version control tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.
• Experience in enterprise-level ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Service Manager, etc.) and their workflows.
• Worked on waterfall and agile projects; handle incidents, service requests and change requests.
• Provide technical troubleshooting and resolution for complex applications and integrations.
• Conduct performance tuning and optimization of Mainframe applications and queries.
• Develop technical documentation for business and support teams
• Understand functional and technical requirements and provide implementation options.
